The Record-Breaking 10 Trillion Yuan Demonstrates The Strong Resilience Of China’S Foreign Trade
In the first quarter, the scale of my country's import and export of goods trade exceeded 10 trillion yuan for the first time in history, and the growth rate hit a new high in six quarters. The encouraging data on import and export in the first quarter demonstrated the strong resilience of China's foreign trade and boosted people's confidence in achieving this year's economic growth target.
In the "report card" of foreign trade data in the first quarter, the foreign trade of Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang, the traditional major foreign trade provinces, all hit record highs. Among them, Guangdong's foreign trade scale exceeded 2 trillion yuan for the first time, ranking first in the country; Jiangsu's exports of mechanical and electrical products such as ships, automobiles and accessories all maintained double-digit growth; Zhejiang's market procurement and cross-border e-commerce import and export growth rates were faster than the country's.
Customs statistics show that in the first quarter of this year, the number of foreign trade companies with import and export performance in my country increased by 8.8% year-on-year. Among them, the import and export of private enterprises was 5.53 trillion yuan, an increase of 10.7%, accounting for 54.3% of the total import and export value. Private enterprises have also become a new force in leading innovation and creation. They are the largest import and export entities of high-tech products in my country and have made important contributions to the acceleration of the cultivation of new productive forces in the field of foreign trade.
Chinese products are widely welcomed around the world, relying on innovation and quality. For example, Chinese construction machinery, which is reliable, durable, powerful in performance and has perfect after-sales service, is selling well all over the world, bringing a better experience to consumers. For another example, cross-border e-commerce is a new foreign trade format with the fastest development, the greatest potential, and the strongest driving force. It is also a new channel to promote the transformation, upgrading, and high-quality development of foreign trade. In the first quarter of this year, cross-border e-commerce exports from overseas warehouses increased. 11.8%. Cross-border e-commerce, general trade and processing trade together constitute my country's three major trade modes. Its advantages and potential in "buying globally and selling globally" continue to be released, becoming a new driving force for foreign trade growth.
In the central and western regions, the Tibet Autonomous Region's total import and export value of goods trade in the first quarter was 2.178 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 216.7%, ranking first in the country in terms of growth rate. The import and export of provinces and cities along the New Land-Sea Corridor in the western part of Guangxi Port maintained double-digit growth.
Behind the booming start of foreign trade is the result of expanding high-level opening up and the "joint effort" of all parties. Promoting cross-border trade facilitation and deepening reform and innovation in the field of international trade have created conditions for a prosperous start in foreign trade. A complete, efficient, stable and safe industrial and supply chain continues to enhance the comprehensive competitive advantage of China's manufacturing industry and lays a solid foundation for the continued growth of exports.
