China'S Largest Aluminum Province: Aluminum Production Exceeds 13 Million Tons
China is a big country in the aluminum industry, and its output and consumption have ranked first in the world for 21 consecutive years. Last year, the national output of alumina was 79.76 million tons and the output of electrolytic aluminum was 40.43 million tons, accounting for 58.21% and 58.36% of the world respectively; the consumption of alumina was 80.91 million tons and the consumption of electrolytic aluminum was 41.1 million tons, accounting for 59.11% and 58.67% of the world respectively; accounted for more than half.
Aluminum is one of the main varieties of aluminum processing materials. Recycled aluminum or electrolytic aluminum is processed into various building profiles, industrial profiles, aluminum sheets, aluminum strips, aluminum foils, etc. after adding alloying elements through extrusion, rolling, etc., which are widely used in construction, automobiles, aerospace, packaging, electric power and other fields.
Last year, the output of aluminum products was 62.216 million tons, a slight decrease of 1.4% year-on-year, exceeding the 60 million tons mark for two consecutive years. With the gradual recovery of the economy, the demand for aluminum in construction, new energy, photovoltaic and other fields will increase, and the industry is expected to maintain stable operation.
It is worth mentioning that the lightweight trend in the field of new energy vehicles is becoming more and more obvious. Substituting aluminum for steel is regarded as one of the important ways to reduce the weight of automobiles. The body, wheels, parts and power batteries all have aluminum requirements for automobile lightweight. , which undoubtedly ushers in new development opportunities for the aluminum processing province.
The provinces and cities ranked 6-10 in aluminum production are Zhejiang, Chongqing, Inner Mongolia, Jiangxi, and Sichuan. As a province with large mineral resources, Inner Mongolia ranks first in the country in terms of coal reserves, accounting for nearly one-third of the total. The advantage of low electricity price attracts the construction of electrolytic aluminum production capacity, forming a certain scale of industrial clusters. By the end of last year, the production capacity of electrolytic aluminum had been 6.162 million tons per year, ranking third in the country, second only to Shandong and Xinjiang.
Although the same as Xinjiang, the raw material and consumer markets are "outside", but because it is closer to East China and the transportation cost of finished products is lower, the aluminum industry in Inner Mongolia still has a certain room for growth in the future, and downstream aluminum processing will also benefit from it.
