China’s 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Trade Routes Continue To Expand

According to the recent release by the Ministry of Natural Resources on the operation of the marine economy, as opening up continues to deepen, marine transportation develops steadily, and the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" trade routes continue to expand.

 

According to statistics from the Ministry of Natural Resources, since the beginning of this year, the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" trade routes have continued to expand. The first Southeast Asia container international route was put into operation. At the same time, domestic trade routes continue to be enriched. The Zhuhai Gaolan-Shenzhen Yantian combined port was officially opened to help realize mutual recognition of resources among ports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area; many domestic trade routes such as "Yingkou-Haikou" were officially opened.

 

Under this situation, the production of coastal ports is generally improving. In the first half of the year, ocean cargo volume was 2.20 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%. The operating efficiency of coastal ports has steadily improved. The average number of ships at berth and the time spent at port in the nine major coastal ports including Shanghai Port and Ningbo Zhoushan Port dropped by 19.5% and 14.6% year-on-year

respectively from January to June. Among them, Guangzhou Port ranks first and second among the world's major ports with an average of 0.62 days and 0.92 days for ships to be at berth and at the port, respectively. The efficiency and comprehensive efficiency of port loading and unloading operations lead the world.
